A ready-made rug in a standard size solves many cases. When a room has an awkward shape, a special use, or needs a specific colour and design, a made-to-measure rug is the answer. This is how it usually goes.
- Measuring on site. Not from a drawing. Corners, steps, doors and the furniture that will stand on or around the rug are all measured.
- Material. Use decides it. A rug that will be walked on all day needs a different fibre from one beside a bed. Wool is durable and warm to the touch, synthetics are often easier to clean, soft and lustrous fibres need more care. Decide the surface as well: dense pile or a flatter weave.
- Colour and design. See a sample in the room itself, in its own light. The rug has to work with the fabrics, the furniture and the floor.
- Making and installation. We make bespoke rugs ourselves, after measuring on site. At installation the fit is checked and, where needed, an underlay goes in to hold the rug in place and protect the floor.
For a hotel or commercial space, ask from the start whether a fire classification is required for floor coverings, and ask for a lead time for your own project.
